Brandy L. McCray MD, FAAP

Brandy L. McCray, MD, FAAP is a board certified pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. McCray grew up in San Antonio and is a graduate of John Marshall High School. She graduated with high honors from the University of Texas at Austin and then attended Baylor College of Medicine. At Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. McCray was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honor society. Following medical school, Dr. McCray completed her pediatric residency through Baylor at the world renowned Texas Children’s Hospital. After working for two private practices following residency, Dr. McCray founded Through the Years Pediatrics in 2006.  She is a member of the Bexar County Medical Society, Texas Pediatric Society, Texas Medical Association, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. McCray served as a co-chair on the Committee on Administration and Practice Management and is a member of the Pediatric Council for TPS. She is a past Chief of pediatric medicine at the Methodist Children’s Hospital.

Dr. McCray is married with two boys and two dogs. She enjoys cooking, reading and exercising in her spare time. 


Leah H. Jacobson MD, FAAP

Leah H. Jacobson, MD, FAAP is a board certified pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.  She attended St. Joseph’s High School in Victoria, Texas, and graduated with honors from Texas A&M University in College Station.  Following college, Dr. Jacobson completed medical school and her pediatric residency here in San Antonio at the University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHSCSA). 

Dr. Jacobson worked for 6 years as an assistant professor in the UTHSCSA Department of Pediatrics and Family Practice.  She remains an adjunct associate professor to date.  Since 2002, she has worked in private practice here in San Antonio.

Dr. Jacobson is active in organized medicine, both at the local and state level, working for patient advocacy and the betterment of health care for children.  She is a member of the San Antonio Pediatric Society(SAPS), Texas Pediatric Society(TPS), Bexar County Medical Society (BCMS), Texas Medical Association (TMA), and American Academy of Pediatrics(AAP).  Dr. Jacobson currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Bexar County Medical Society, and is a past chair of the BCMS Board of Mediation and TMA’s Membership Committee. Dr. Jacobson served as the president of BCMS in 2017.

Dr. Jacobson is married and has 3 children and a menagerie of pets.  She enjoys baking, scrapbooking, and volunteering.  She believes in a team approach to the care of each patient.

Shruti Shanker DO

We are looking forward to welcoming Dr. Shruti Shanker to our practice in September. Dr. Shanker has been practicing in San Antonio for the last 6 years. She is a native of Florida, but did her pediatric residency at Dell Children’s Hospital in Austin and is married to a native Texan. 
Dr.Shanker is excited to join our team.  She loves meeting new families and watching kids grow. Her goal is to create a long-lasting partnership with each family, and to be present during the challenging times as well as the fun moments too.

Sheri Sowa APRN, CPNP, AE-C

Sheri Sowa, RN, CPNP, AE-C is a board Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Certified Asthma Educator.  She is a native of San Antonio and a graduate of Health Careers High School.  Sheri received her Bachelor of Science in Community Health from Texas A&M University in College Station, Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, and a Master of Science in Nursing Education from the University of Texas El Paso.  She most recently completed the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio (UTHSCSA), now known as UT Health, in August of 2017.

Sheri spent many years as a pediatric nurse, most recently as an elementary school nurse with North East Independent School District (NEISD).  She has a special interest in asthma management.  While working in the schools, she saw the difference asthma management education could make in helping children with asthma live symptom-free, active lifestyles.  She received recognition for her work in asthma when her campus achieved the American Lung Association's Asthma-Friendly Schools Initiative Gold Champion Award.  Sheri continues to serve on the School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) for NEISD where she is part of the Safe and Healthy Schools subcommittee.

Sheri joined Through the Years Pediatrics in January of 2015 as the phone triage nurse and referral coordinator.  She enjoys being part of the TTYP team and making a difference in the lives of children to ensure they are healthy, active and growing to their full potential.  Sheri has two teenage sons who are active in high school soccer and marching band.  She enjoys spending time with friends and family and watching Aggie football.
